Residential Program

Cerebral Palsy of Westchester (CPW) offers residential services for adults with developmental disabilities and is committed to providing quality care and support for the individuals we serve. The Residential program provides accommodations for individuals who need significant supports for daily living activities and also provides opportunities for individuals who need less assistance and can accomplish many tasks on their own.

CPW operates a variety of residential opportunities that include Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF), Community Residences (CR) and Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) settings.

The residential sites are located in New Rochelle, White Plains and Rye Brook. Each of these sites provides quality care and support tailored to the needs of the residents.

The Residential program functions with support of a clinical department, which includes a
medical director, psychiatrist, psychologist, registered nurses, speech therapist, nutritionist, physical therapist, occupational therapist and a behavioral specialist. The team provides oversight and recommendations to ensure that each resident’s needs are met, and are given opportunities to develop their own skills that lessen dependence and promote self–esteem, value and self-worth. Clinicians, managers, and direct support professionals all work together to assist the residents in reaching their goals and promoting their independence.

Individuals are supported in reaching their highest possible potential and are provided opportunities to engage in various life skills and experiences that are meaningful to them, as well as making a meaningful contribution to their community. Vacation, excursions, and other activities in the community enable individuals to participate and engage in activities of their interest. Individuals living in the residences attend religious services, spiritual retreats and holiday events in their local churches or synagogues based on their faith. Many express their creativity through art, music or writing. Those who have family and friends involved in their lives, are encouraged to maintain these connections.
