The CPW special education program is a New York State Department of Education approved school age (5-21) education center for students with disabilities. The CPW School provides educational services to students with the following primary disabilities:
• Intellectually Disabled
• Multiple Disabilities
• Orthopedic Impairment
• Learning Disabled
• Other Health Impairment
• Visual Impairment
Students enrolled at the CPW School demonstrate high level of personal care needs and a combination of two or more of the disabilities listed above. The school program offers educational, therapeutic and medical services designed specifically for each child.
The CPW School maintains relationships with regional Committees on Special Education (CSE), the Westchester County School Districts CSE and the New York City Department of Education Central Based Support Team. All services offered are coordinated by a transdisciplinary team to meet the specific objectives of each student’s individual educational program (IEP). The school operates a 10 month session with a six-week summer program. Eligibility is determined by the Committee on Special Education from the child’s home school district or the New York City Department of Education CBST and the CPW School admission committee.

The Center maintains smart board intended touch platforms, student iPads, and transition/pre-vocational services.
The CPW School treatment team includes all related service disciplines (OT, PT, SLP, Psychology, and Social Work)) as well as on-site registered nurse services. Individual and group based therapeutic interventions are provided each school day.
The CPW School admissions staff assist in securing the IEP, medical and psychosocial background information for team review. Once records are obtained and the student and family have visited the school for an intake, the school admissions committee provides feedback to the referral source and/or School District.
