Our Day Habilitation Program focuses on personal success, developing each individual’s interests and emphasizing community inclusion. Our trained staff works with participants to choose and design goals to meet their specific individual needs and interests with a person-centered approach. Services and programs are provided on-site and in a variety of settings throughout the community. Our Day Habilitation Program allows participants to spend their time engaged in enriching new experiences and in activities of interest to them.
PERSON CENTER PLANNING
The person-centered planning process is directed by the individual and/or family. It is intended to identify how each participant wants to live and describes what support services are needed to help them move toward a quality lifestyle and to achieve a meaningful and productive life with opportunities to contribute to their community. The identified outcomes, training supports, therapies, treatments, community inclusion strategies, as well as other services the individual is to receive to work towards those desired outcomes, becomes part of a plan of support.
COMMUNITY INCLUSION ACTIVITIES
Our Community Inclusion approach includes opportunities in housing, employment, education, leisure/recreation, religion, health care and citizenship. The goal of community inclusion is participation in community settings where people without disabilities are present, having a wide variety of relationships and being part of the community, not just an observer.
SOCIALIZATION SKILLS
Social interaction is encouraged throughout the day. Participants engage in a variety of activities to socialize with their peers and staff, including recreational, educational, and sensory activities.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING
Participants take part in comprehensive training to increase their skills in using computers, money management, reading, current events, and more.
RECREATION
Participants enjoy the opportunity to engage in exercise groups, participate in clubs, create art, play interactive Wii and X-Box games, take walks, and compete against other agencies in baseball and basketball. They engage in music programs with staff both in-house and in the community. Program participants have access to our Harmony Park adaptive playground located in the center of our main facility, and enjoy swimming in our therapeutic swimming pool during the summer months.
